Vol. S — strategic creative tools

Panama Red builds strategic creative tools.

The Curiosity Engine The heart and soul of every tool we build.

Our way of using AI — not to reach consensus, but to explore and provoke.

Positioning · pitch · competitive · innovation

Vol. S · The Engine — Curiosity Engine inside

What do you do with the entire written record of human knowledge?

Now that a model holds all of it, knowing more stops being the edge — every model knows the same things. The advantage is interpretation. The engine's whole job is the reframe: turning what everyone can already see into something nobody has thought yet.

It starts from a line we keep close — we don't see things as they are; we see them as we are. The conditioned gaze can be de-conditioned. For an AI, the most conditioned view is its first draft: the mean of everything ever written. The engine sets that aside and looks again.

Input · the conditioned gaze
The mean of everything written
Every model's first, safest draft.
Output · truer & more useful
A reframe
An extraordinary thought about an ordinary thing.

The six moves

How we built it · 01–06
01
Go to the edges
Refuse first-order thinking. The obvious answer sits in the middle of the bell curve — the interesting one is at the extremes.
02
Excavate, don't import
Surface what the brand already holds but has forgotten. Meaning is dug up, never bolted on from outside.
03
Invert it
"The opposite of a good idea can also be a good idea." — Rory Sutherland. Explore the flip instead of dismissing it.
04
Steal across domains
An obvious idea in one field is mind-bending in another. Borrow structure from film, ritual, science — not the category.
05
Back every claim
Proven, reasoned, or a leap — each one labelled. No hand-waving, nothing invented and passed off as fact.
06
Be interesting, not just right
Favour the provocative angle over the safe, obvious one. The job is to explore and provoke, not to settle on consensus.

Vol. S · Colophon — a note on the name

Panama Red is a strain.

Pure sativa. Cerebral. Legendary in the late 1960s and early '70s for a high that didn't relax you — it expanded you. Songs were written about it. The kind of plant you don't forget.

Strategy is the same plant.

Which is why we built Panama Red as a creative-strategy dev studio. We don't ship decks. We ship tools — mind-enhancing instruments for the work strategy keeps trying to do, and platitudes keep trying to flatten.

The work that matters isn't the work that compresses everything down. It's the work that opens it up. The angle you didn't have before. The contradiction nobody's named. The tension you can only see if you let the room get strange for a minute.

Our approach is psychedelic in the original sense of the word — mind-revealing. Expansive. Cerebral. We're not building tools that reduce strategy to platitudes. We're building tools that take you somewhere new.

Vol. S · The Founder — the work behind the tools

Twenty years inside the positioning decisions of Nike, Guinness, Dove, White Claw.

Not advising from the outside. Doing the work. Now I work with founders. The product is always sharp. The positioning doesn't exist. Nobody builds strategy for their stage — the budget isn't there, the bandwidth isn't there. So they compete on features until the category swallows them.

I built Panama Red to fix that. The studio ships the tools I wish I'd had at every stage that couldn't afford a strategist in the room.
